No 1 Augusta County, to wit:
Andrew Vind a free black man, about 5 feet 8 inches high, twenty one years old the 10th day of March 1803, and bound by the Overseers of the poor in Culpeper County to William Barber by Indenture bearing date the 25th July 1798 as appears by the certificate of John Jamison Clerk of Culpeper County

Hill, Young

No 2 Augusta County, to wit:
Young Hill a free negro man five feet 9 inches high, straight and well made, of a dark copper complexion, about thirty six years old, and has a small soar on his left hand, supposed to have been occasioned by a burn. He was emancipated by Gerrard Brooke of Montgomery County in the State of Maryland as appears from the certificate of J. Holmes endorsed as deeds of emancipation produced by said Hill, and now in his possession which said deed bears date the 9th day of Decr 1794 and (as appears from an endorsement thereonto signed G T Brooke Beale (GS) has been recorded in the Land office of the sd County of Montgomery


White, Harry

No 3 Augusta County, to wit:
Harry White a black man aged about 50 years the 27th May 1811, liberated by the Will of Richard Randolph, about 5 feet 7 inches high marked with the smallpox and a shoemaker by trade, produced the certificate of the clerk of Cumberland County Va of his regular emancipation to me which is recorded as his right.

Broadus, Jr. Clerk of Culpeper Court the 22nd of July 1812.

Cox, Eliza

No 15 Eliza Cox, a bright yellow woman, 22 years of age, about five feet 7 inches high, has a small scar in the forehead, a large scar- on the right arm below the elbow and a very visible black mole, in her right hand; certified to be free born.


Cooper, James

No 16 James Cooper, a man of colour, yellow complexion, five feet 8 or l0 inches high, has a scar on the second joint of the little finger of the right hand and a mole on the right side of the chin--certified to be a free man.

No 17 Peyton Isaac's a free man of colour aged about twenty one years and about five feet ten inches high, dark complexion, short black curled hair, a small scar on each Jaw, and was free born, which appears from a certificate in his possession signed Wm Miller, C. G. C., dated the 15th day of March 1813. Registered here the 26th day of September 1816.


Lewis, Susey; (alias Orchard, Susey)

No 18 Susey Lewis (alias Susey Orchard) a mulatto woman about forty years of age, was born free, consequently all her children are free, as appears from a certificate in her possession signed by Spottswood Garland Clk of Nelson County dated 26th day of August 1816-- and registered here the 26th day of Sept 1816.


Cooper, Isham

No 19 Isham Cooper a free man of colour, five feet seven Inches and one half high, about twenty seven years of age, light yellow complexion has a scar on the right side of the face Just above the lip, a mole on the left side of the face near the end of the nose, as appeares from a certificate in his possession signed by William Miller, clerk of Goochland county dated the l9th day of September 1808. No 23 Augusta County Court Clerks office, June 28, 1819 Nancy Scott, a free woman of colour, five feet ten inches and three quarters high, about thirty three years of age, light complexion, brush hair, has a scar on the third joint of the left forefinger--also several scars on both arms and was born free; she has also a black mole on the right side of her nose-- first Registered in the county court of Goochland, as appears by a certificate of the clerk thereof.


Morris, Sucky

No 24 Augusta County, to wit:
Sucky Morris, a free woman of colour, about thirty one years of age, has long bushy hair, has a scar on the edge of the hair over her forehead; two small scars on the breast, a black mole on the right side of the nose; about five feet one and a half inches high, of Yallow complexion and was free born- first registered in the county court of Goochland as appears by a certificate of the Clerk thereof; and registered here the 28th day of June 1819.


Alestock, Michael

No 25 Augusta County Court, June the 28th, 1819
Michael Alestock, a man of colour, aged about twenty seven years, five feet eight inches and a quarter high, black complexion, long black whiskers, a scar over the left eye, the middle finger of the right hand injured at the end thereof by a white fellon, no other scars or mark perceivable; declared to be a free man, as appears from a certificate of the Clerk of Albemarle County

dated 2nd March 1816, and registered here this day.

No 26 Augusta County, to wit:
"Registered in the county court of Hanover, Fontaine Maxfield The said Fontaine Maxfield is about twenty two years of age about 5 feet four or five inches high, is of a dark mulatto complexion; was born free. Witness my hand the 25th day of February 1818."

Alexander Bowles a free man of colour. It appears to the County Court of Augusta, that he is a free man of a mulatto complexion aged twenty one years in April and was born free in the County of Albemarle about 5 feet _ inches high with a scar over the left eye, occasioned by a burn.
