By direction of the Military [added: Commissioner ] I have the honor to request to be furnished with a written statement in answer to the following inquiries:

Is the Methodist Church of Staunton used at the present time for school purposes? or has it ever been? - if so - by whom? when? why? For how long? - By what authority? or by whose permission? - Has any protest ever been made against such use & if so - when & by whom? - also give any other information you may possess [unclear: relative] to the matter.
