The following bills passed the Senate on Friday:

An act to authorize the school directors of Montgomery township to sell a public lot.

An act to prevent fishing with seines or nets in the East Conococheague creek in the county of Franklin.

An act to authorize the school directors of St. Thomas township to sell and convey a public school house.

The following bills were read in place in the Senate by Mr. McConaughy on Friday:

An act to extend the time for the payment of the enrollment tax on an act to incorporate the Gettysburg and Chambersburg railroad company, and authorizing said road to make connections and increasing the number of commissioners.

Also, an act to authorize Jacob Shoaff, with his children, of Franklin county, to resume his paternal surname of "Schaff."

An act to suspend the operation of an act to repeal a further supplement to an act to erect the town of Chambersburg, Franklin county, into a borough, approved March 19th, 1868, and to submit its adoption to the decision of a majority of the qualified voters of the borough.

Surgical Operation

Summary: James P. Kegerries of Fannettsburg sustained a wound during Grant's wilderness campaign of 1864 that necessitated amputation of a portion of his arm. He was removed to a hospital in Alexandria, and the operation was performed there after six weeks. The bone, however, continued to decay. Two months ago, Drs. Suesserott and Platt of Chambersburg amputated the remaining bone. It is reported that Kegerries is almost completely recovered.
