Under instructions from the War Department Bureau RF+AL dated April 8th 1867. Officers acting as Superintendents of this Bureau will in future be designated and sign themselves as Sub Assistant Commissioners, and Officers acting as Asst. Superintendents as Assistant Sub Assistant Commissioners.
Civilians acting as Superintendents and Asst. Supts. will in the future be designated and sign themselves as Agents.
