Dear Cousin

for the first time since I have been a Prisoner I take the present opportunity of writing you a few lines to let you know where I am & how I am I am well at the present and have been a prisoner since the 12th of May last and I stand in need of many little articles which I cannot get without the money and would like very much if you would send me a few dollars if you can spare it conveniently and I will pay you back if it is ever in my power. the folks were all well at home when I last heard from them when you write direct to
