Dear Sir,
Your letter of the 21st July addressed to William Hopkins [illeg.] was duly received as we have so many applications for assistance from our old acquaintances in the South,
who are now prisoner, we do not as a firm fill orders Except when we are acquainted: - the
writer handed your letter over to his wife, who has been doing something as She has ability for the Confederate prisoners who have no friends at the

North, and I write to say that the articles you write for, with
perhaps some other things will be sent by Adams Express to you tomorrow or the next day
