Dear Father
I seat myself to drop you a few lines to let you know how I am getting on this leaves
me as well as [unclear: comont] hoping this will find you & family as well as heart can wish I have but little news to write I saw brother yesterday he was
well & gaily they passed
through
here going to Richmond it issupposed they
may go to Georgia or weldon N C W D L received those things you sent
him just as I got out to them you ought to know how the sweet cakes
faired
before I left him

I may stay here
some time yet as my health will not admit of field service I am trying
to get transferred to Danville but it
is a bad chance when the boys gets settled I
shall try to get farther south as I think it will suit my health much
better you need not be uneasy about brother for he has a detail at the field
hospital he will not be in any fight his hand is
getting on very well his glove
fit very well you may tell mother I must close asking you to write
soon
