Lexington, Virginia

Lieutenant--You will please write immediately on the receipt of this letter, to Colonel William Procter Smith, Chief Engineer [unclear: Valley Division ], at this place, & inform him what additional tools, or if any, you will need in working on the bridge at Buchanan.
