Drove back the enemy Cavalry with my artillery. No infantry or artillery has yet appeared though my pickets report infantry at Callaghans.
Until I am forced back from this place Enemy will hardly move against Union & expose his flank & Rear to my attack. The Rockbridge Home Guards & Cadets are approaching from Clifton Forge it is all important to Defend the furnaces below here & I hope I can do it successfully about two hundred of Jacksons men have come in. I have taken command of them at the present
