Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands
Head Quarters 9th Sub District R. Waldo
Assistant Sub Assistant Commissioner
Staunton Virginia

October 19. 1868

Winchester, Virginia

Sir

Please inform me what arrangements have been made for Schools at Staunton for the coming winter. It is presumed that the African Methodist Episcopal Missionary Society will furnish teachers as heretofore, but if such is not their intention, Mr. Brackett Superintendent of Schools for the Valley who has the management of the Normal School at Harpers Ferry will perhaps be able to send teachers.

Very Respectfully
Your Obedient Servant

John A. McDonnell
Sub Assistant Commissioner
