Freedmen's Bureau Records: Thomas P. Jackson to John A. McDonnell, January 7, 1868

Summary:
Jackson forwards a request for information about Daniel Brown who was taken to Alabama while he was a child. Blair, the Agent in Tuscaloosa reports on Brown's current situation, noting that he has a family and is doing well.

I respectfully ask that enquiry be made at Tuscaloosa, Alabama for Daniel Brown (colored) son of Sally Brown of Staunton, Virginia now about 25 or 27 years old Daniel belonged to William Donaghee of Staunton whose daughter married the Reverend Roberth White, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Tuscaloosa and took Daniel with her to that place some time about 1851.

His mother, Sally Brown, is desirous to know where and how he is, and that he communicate with her through this office.
