I have the honor to report that I have not yet taken advantage of the "Leave of Absence" granted me in Special Order Number 83 from your Head Quarters dated Richmond Virginia July 15th 1868 by reason of the fact that my brother is gradually recovering from his misfortune.
If consistent with the rules regulating same, I will retain the "Leave of Absence" for a few days longer and if it becomes necessary for me to avail myself of it of course will report in accordance with Circular Number 16 - from your Head Quarters of the 6th inst.
