February the 4th 1864

My Dear

i take this present time to set down to inform you that i am Well at present and i hope When these few lines reach you they may find you in the same state of health i am sorry to tell you that i have not got a letter from you for some time and i feel if something Was wrong but i hope that you are Well that is all that troubles me for i am so far away from you When i don't get a letter Why i think that you are sick and Can't write and you Won't tell me but i hope that you are Well and doing Well but i am not able to tell When i Will get home but i and Jacop Watson Will be the next men that gets furlough for that had give us furlough but We Could not get off i have not got time to write much for We are fixing to leave i Can not tell you Where We are going but they think that We are going to have a big fight soon but god knows how We'll be able to get out safe again but i hope that god Will spare me to be saved out of this battle i must bid you good night god be With nothing more at present but still remain
