My Dear Wife

i take my pen in hand to inform you that i am Well as can be for a Wounded man i have not now pain but my head but i hope that these few lines may find you the same state of health i have receive your letter and Was so glad that i did not know What to do i had Just Come back from buford and i did not know Whether they had got any Word or not but i long to heard from you and i am glad to hear that you Were safe and the [illeg.] but i am very sorry to hear that they took how they did but i can't talk much about it for i am so glad to hear from you i had to [unclear: Tum] up about 6 feet i have got a [unclear: Cel] to go a [unclear: boate] i think that i Will get home in about the last of september if i live and than i hope that Will [unclear: cure] your face again and then i hope that We may have a glad time again and i Want Want you to give my love to all the friends and tell uncle Sall harson that i think it a long time to hear from him i have been looking for a letter this time but i haven't got a letter yet i am [unclear: versor] to tell you that cant get my likeness taken here but i Want you to send your likeness to me you can send your likeness to me you can send me your likeness like Talop Walkson Wife did and i Wish that you Would send your likeness in the next letter and please to write as soon as you Can and let me know how you are all getting along nothing more at present but still remain your
