Dear Wife

I take this present time to set down to write you these few lines to let you know that i am Well at present and i hope When these few lines reach you they may find you in the same state of health i receive your kind letter this Day With great pleasure and i Was very glad to hear from you once for i thought it a long time to hear from you but i Was very glad When i got it i am getting along as Well as Can be expected so far but all that puts me out of [unclear: hart] is they [unclear: from] to send us home and When the time Come Why they say that they Can't get a boat to take us and then some time i think i Will be home in a short time and then they disappoint us again and sometimes i just give up that i Won't get home but our year is up now and they say that they Will take us to boston in this month and if they do Why We Will all be home in short time but i Can't set the time for fear i don't Come but i thought i may get home soon now i am detail out on [unclear: foley] island butchering for the [unclear: too] regiment We kill about twenty five head of Cattle a Week but i have a nice time When the Weather is good but the Weather is been Cold here for the last 4 or 5 Days but it has Cleared up now it is got very hot here now but i Can say that i hope not [unclear: sow] a Cold Winter Day since i left home but hard rains but When it rains it just pours down and then stops but i now must bring my letter a Close you Wanted to for sure Wheter bill Was killed or not but one of the men that [unclear: satad] alongside of him said that he Was killed [unclear: Ded] the last [unclear: lik] he got Was With a [unclear: Cheale] and it killed him dead nothing more at present but still remain
