My Dear

I take this present opportunity to inform you that I am Well at present and hope When these Few lines Reaches your Dear hand that they May find you Well and all the [illeg.] My Dear i just Receive your kind and Welcome letter the other Day but i had Not the time to Write For When I I got the letter Why We Was just tearing Down our tents to leave georgetown and We fell in and March Down to the Camden and there We had to lie on the ground all Night and as soon as Daylight Came Why We fell in and Went on the Boat and We Came on to Charleston that same Day and then We laid out on the ground all Night and the Next Night Why We Move in Close to the city and Now We Camp in a Nice place and there is only 5 Company to [unclear: tothers] Now the [unclear: ethey] 5 Company [unclear: in gon] to somerville about 6 miles from us so i have Not saw any of the boys for three or four Days but When i saw them Why they Was all Well and Doing Well i have Receive some four or five letters in the last Week and this last letter Was Wrote March the 31st My Dear i have excuse you for all that you have Wrote to Me for When i study about it Why i Just thought how often i said things When i Was in a bad humor a person often say thing that they Wouldn't if they Was in a good humors

But My Dear you spoke about James Carsen going to sell the house My Dear i Don't Care if he selled it to Mary Row for i shall Never live it it as long as i live for i Never had anything of the place yet and i think a [unclear: gents] i get home Why you and I Can buy a little home for our Selves for i ain't going to spend a cent of My money and i Will pay Jacob as soon as We get paid up and then i still think i Will have enough to for you and myself and a how happy it will Be to Me to get home to stay with you for i am tired [unclear: solders] since peace is Declared for We Can't get anything hardly to Eat or drink [unclear: onely] our Ration What We Draw for When the War Was going on Why We Could go out and Catch Chicken and eat them My Dear i Must Close for this time if you Can send Me a few postage stamps Why i Would be very Much obliged to you Remember My love to all the inquiring friends and My Best for yourself
