My dear friend
I received your letter this night and Was very glad to see it I read it and took My pen in hand again to return thanks to you again I am Busy plowing now in the hardest ground I ever saw and the soldiers tramped it as hard as hell tough [unclear: claw] and stony As the Devil there is nothing but hard work for me but I must tell you mitch Carsons Wife has A young One And peet petersons Wife has a young One too that's the best news I can tell you about that now but Before I go any further I'll tell you that We are all Well At present and i hope that these lines may find you the same I must tell you something tonight Again We had rain all day today and We have a [unclear: Weet] night tonight Mary is writing tonight and I am playing the fiddle tonight I Want you to send me your Likenes the next time you Write And tell jake to send me His likenes too in the next Leter he Writes And tell Joe to send me his too I Want to go up Home next saturday All things is quiet here again and there's No War news now to be heard anymore they're still building Houses here and the stores Is full goods now [unclear: D] is giving the rebels Hell on both sides now shoving them in it to great god may the day soon Come When the Canon Balls may thunder the Last rebel into hell god grant the day When it may come many A soul With gladness of heart Will shout With joy Jake says that he Writes and don't receive Any answer but tell Him that I receive his Letters and then answer them again I answer every Leter that I got give My love to all the rest that's about all I have to say now at this time I'll bid you good Morning We must part now please to excuse My writing the paper is bad
