Franklin County: William W. Walker to John Stewart, December 20, 1862

Summary:
William W. Walker requests leave to attend to the health of his ailing father.

December 20, 1862

Camp near Falmouth Virginia

To John Stewart, Adjt. 126 Regiment Pennsylvania
Sir-

Having just received a dispatch from home informing me of the dangerous illness of my father, and of his request to see me. I have the honor to ask for a leave of absence of twenty days to proceed to my home: Waynesboro Pennsylvania. If it would entitle me to further consideration I would urge that for three days past I have been very sick, and am daily growing worse with but little hope of recovery while remaining in Camp. Including myself, my father has five sons, all at this time absent in the service of the United States.

Very Respectfully Yours

W. W. Walker, Captain Commanding Company E 126 Regiment Pennsylvania
