Franklin County: Alexander K. McClure to Eli Slifer, December 1, 1864

Summary:
McClure's letter refers to final election returns.

December 1, 1864

Philadelphia

Dear Colonel

Please have one of the clerks copy the returns made by the return Judges for President Judge, and Mr. Merediths letter & mail them to me at Chambersburg.

It will be eminently proper to publish Mr Merediths letter with a copy of the return in the district, as they will throw all the light on the subject. Mr Merediths letter will [unclear: relieve] the Governor, no matter how the matter of the companies is decided.

I see nothing new here, but the old fight seems to be growing & must culminate soon. I see Holt goes in the Cabinet. He is a cold [unclear: unimpressable] fellow, & will never know us.

Yours Truly

AKMcClure

Honorable Eli Slifer
