Dear Col

The Spirit - [unclear: Locofoco] - in a desperate effort to defeat my nomination for Senator, has this morning published a [unclear: tissue] of the most infamous libels - of which the [unclear: alure] is one. Please send me some such an answer as the enclosed.

So far from harming one it has on had the opposite effect.
