Franklin County: William Hoke to George W. Brewer, March 2, 1868

William Hoke requests that George Brewer tend to his financial affairs. Hoke wants Brewer to look into a claim for losses caused by the Confederates. He asks that Brewer send him a blanket out of the proceeds.

I see it in the valley spirit that they are making a move to pay for our loss by the rebels now friend George tend to mine I don't know what my amount was anymore you have it send me a blanket of my amount and I lost a bay horse the time Imboden army lay at the cove gap the time of the move from there to the fight at Gettysburg for my boys had the horses on the mountain above McConnellsburg now I want to know whether I must prove him and send it to you he was coke in 1863 as near as I can tell from the 20 of june until the firstof July write to me and let me know all about it my address is Waldo Marin. County Ohio
