Chambersburg
My Dear Sir
I send you with pleasure [illeg.] copy of my Tribute to the Irish & Scotish Early Settlers of Pennsylvania as I learn you have some partiality for the Record. My motions are disclosed in the Preface. Could I have [illeg.] on the life extended to me, I would have extended this work. I felt however, as my Time of Life is matter of Grace; that my [unclear: thrusion] & [unclear: term] are past, & I must not be surprised with a Summons to quit, at the Word of my Heavenly Master-
You will accept my thanks for the copy of the Judge's opinions in the Dred Scott case. I cannot concurr with the majority [unclear: of] the Court in that notable Case-
Very Respectfully
Yours
George Chambers
The Honorable Simon Cameron
