Franklin County: P. Hammon to Simon Cameron, November 18, 1856

Summary:
Hammon laments recent election losses.

November 18th/1856

Chambersburg Pennsylvania

Honorable Simon Cammeron,
Dear
Sir,

It is not expedient for me at this time to recapitulate the causes of our defeat, we are routed that is certain.--We will pick our flints and try again.

I heard it intimated a day or so ago, that you had in the Democratic party several friends who would stand by you, for United States Senator, if this be so I shall be much pleased to be informed of the fact, for I think if it were possible,- I should be pleased to have a [unclear: cituation] in the Senate this winter, as I could be of much service to you.--Our Members from this County I think will not be hard to manage--Let me hear from you,--

"Fraternally" yours

P Hammon
