Wilkinson, charged with stealing a horse from Samuel Patterson of Augusta County and with beating him severely, escaped from the county jail, assumed several alias, was caught by members of Colonel W. L. Jackson's command, and was returned here Saturday. J. T. Largent, convicted of stealing a horse from Samuel Koiner of Augusta, escaped from county jail, was arrested on Tuesday at the Virginia Hotel, and was returned to jail.

Meeting of Physicians

Summary: The Augusta Medical Society was organized at a meeting of Augusta County physicians on June 26. The group is intended to enhance professional relationships and to standardize procedures for costs and payment during the war. The group elected V. T. Churchman as president unanimously, T. W. Sidney, announced the orders of the Adjutant General of Virginia that a regimental muster will be held in New Hope, Saturday, July 4.
