Full Text of Article:

The council met on Tuesday night last. The first business in order was the election of officers which resulted as follows:

Clerk.--Jas F. Patterson.

Chief of Police--Jacob T. Parrent.

Deputy " Jno. R. Kuriz.

Supt. of Water-works--David Taylor.

The following committees were elected:

Committee to remodel the ordinance in relation to streets--Messrs. Nelson, Cochran and Waters.

Committee of Safety.--G.E. Price, G.G. Bunch and Jno. B. Scherer, Jr.

Water Committee--Messrs. Hardy, Waters and Burke.

Auditing Committee.--Messrs. Lynn, Hardy and Cochran.

Dr. J.M. Hanger was elected City Surgeon.

A numerously signed petition to put a pumpstock in the well near the residence of M. Schmitt was presented and the prayer of the petitioners granted.

The usual accounts were presented, allowed and ordered to be paid.

The Council adjourned to meet on Wednesday night next at 8 P.M.
