Summary:
Robert E. Lee asks Major Michael G. Harman, commanding at Staunton, to forward
orders to General Henry R. Jackson. Jackson is instructed to take command of
several regiments and move to aid Robert Garnett, pressed by George B.
McClellan's Federals in West Virginia.

Take command of Scott's, Johnson's, and Lee's regiments, and such other forces as may be at hand. Oppose the advance of the enemy, and move to the relief of Gen. Garnett. Four hundred rounds of ammunition, for the guns forwarded, has been sent.
