From: CHAS. S. STRINGFELLOW, Maj. and Assistant Adjutant-Gen.
April 5, 1863.

Summary:
Confederate Assistant Adjutant Charles Stringfellow writes John Imboden at Staunton concerning preparations for his April, 1863, raid into West Virginia.

Brig. Gen. J. D. IMBODEN, Staunton, Va.:

Dublin,

April 5, 1863.

GEN.:

The major-general commanding has it in contemplation to send A. C. Dunn's battalion, dismounted, to report to Col. Jackson for temporary duty with him; this will depend upon his ability to arm the men, which, however, he hopes to do.

Please reply at once, and let the commanding general know whether you can furnish rations for the extra number of men, if sent, and whether you want them. With this addition, Col. Jackson will have some 700 or 800 men.

Respectfully, general, your obedient servant,

CHAS. S. STRINGFELLOW,
Maj. and Assistant Adjutant-Gen.
