Union scout A. Yager reports to Army of the Potomac commander Joseph Hooker in February, 1863. Yager reports Thomas J. Jackson's army at Staunton, preparing for a raid into Maryland.

Army of the Potomac:

FAIRFAX STATION,

February 24, 1863.

GEN.:

Stevensburg lies about 6 miles southwest from Kelly's Ford, on the Rappahannock.

Gen. Longstreet passed through Richmond on the 18th instant. A portion of his army went to Charleston, S. C., the balance to Suffolk. Gen. Stuart is now at Auburn, near Warrenton. Gen. Jackson and army are at Staunton, with the intention of making a raid in Maryland, with the help of Gen. Stuart.
