Summary:
In this July, 1863, dispatch, Union General in Chief Henry Halleck writes General
Darius Couch, commanding at Chambersburg, with orders to send New York militia
troops to New York City. The New York militia participated in the defense of
Pennsylvania during the Gettysburg campaign, and are here being recalled,
probably for service in putting down the New York City draft riots.
