Summary:
In December, 1863, Federals under William Averell launched a raid in West
Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. In this dispatch, Confederate General Jubal
Early, commanding at Staunton, sends orders to Colonel William Jackson who
played a large role in opposing the Union raid.
