CHAMBERSBURG, PA.,

October 19, 1863

Cmdg. officer at Harper's Ferry has notified Gen. Ferry, in command of my forces in Maryland, that he only wanted cavalry. This latter has been sent to him. The infantry and artillery will return to Hagerstown for the present.
