Summary:
Union forces briefly occupied Staunton in early June, 1864. When the Federals
evacuated the town, some sick and wounded were left in the hospital. In this
letter, Arthur I. Boreman, governor of West Virginia, asks Union General Franz
Sigel for permission to send supplies to sick and wounded Union prisoners in
Staunton.
