July 27, 1864.

My aide has returned from Fairview; reports that no rebels had crossed at Back Creek Ford up to 11 a. m. Enemy crossed some infantry at Little Georgetown in boats, but last observed at 1. 30 p. m. crossing back. Shall have another report in an hour.
