Summary:
Union telegraph operator H. R. Fetterhoff reports to Union General William
Averell on July 30, 1864, that telegraph wires to Chambersburg had been cut, and
that Confederate forces threatened the town.

GREENCASTLE,
July 30, 1864.
The operator at Chambersburg tells me that the telegraph lines west of that place were cut about 1 a. m., and the enemy threaten Chambersburg.
