Summary:
Union general Darius Couch writes to Quartermaster Brown in August, 1864,
concerning the movement of supply trains. Couch assumes Brown had already left
Chambersburg.
Capt. BROWN, Quartermaster:
PITTSBURG,
August 2, 1864.
If you hear nothing from Gen. Averell you had better move your train to Hagerstown, where he desired you to go. I had supposed that you left Chambersburg, certainly as early as yesterday morning.
D. N. COUCH,
Maj.-Gen.
