Summary:
These December, 1864, Union General Orders change the name of the Department of the Susquehanna to the Department of Pennsylvania, and move the headquarters from Chambersburg to Philadelphia.

The following general orders from the War Department is republished for the information of all concerned in this department:

GENERAL ORDERS, No. 293. WAR DEPARTMENT, ADJUTANT-GEN.'S OFFICE,
Washington, D. C., December 1, 1864.

The Department of the Susquehanna will hereafter be known as the Department of Pennsylvania, headquarters at Philadelphia.
