Dear Sir:

I have your letter and telegram. The records of the enrolling office here shew that your petition was sent by mail to Col Shields the Commandant of Camp Lee on the 6th day of this month. You must get him to look thoroughly. The Clerk, Mr. Peyton, recollects distinctly that it was sent.
