Franklin County: Bob Taggart to Captain John Taggart, August 22, 1863

Summary:
Taggart tells his brother that nothing new is happening in camp.

Captain John Taggart, 9th Penn. Reserve Infantry

August 22d 1863

Camp near Rappahannock Va

Dear John

Yours of the 18th containing receipt from Mr. Smith came to hand yesterday. There is not much doing in Camp now more than standing guard going on Picket Dress Parade. Yesterday the 9th went out on a three days tour of Picket. I remain in camp as officer of the day. The weather continues very warm and makes a person feel rather disinclined to unnecessary exertion.

I wish you would get Sam, in case you might not find it convenient to call at Wallace's and hand the enclosed to Will Mc Kelvy. If you can let him hand it to Will in person. No more orders yet about moving. My love to all the folks.

Your Affect Brother

Bob
