Dear John
Yours of the 1st came to hand yesterday and found us all in usual health and inactivity. The 1st and 2d Divisions of the 6th corps passed this day enroute to relieve the 2d Corps, which is stationed a few miles from this toward the Rapidan. It is reported that the 2d Corps is going to be sent to Tennesse I cannot vouch for the truth of the report
I wish you would call on Mr. Smith and have him make me a pair of Pantaloons not
quite so light a blue -- if his has any a shade darker -- as the last one. To be sure and make
