Dear father
I sat down [illeg.] drop a few lines to inform you that I Received my BOX
on the 16th all safe and I was very clad for it evry thing is good and that is a very nice hankerchief that you sent to me the Box was a
little Broken But there was nothing taken out I have plenty to eat now a for a
while I also let you know that we had a great Cavalry Review in Strausburg about
three miles from Culpepper they had a great time But
I was not there I lent my horses to another man and I stayed in camp there was a
great many cavalry there and great many generals But I think we will

have some Reviews with the Rebel before long I think we will have hard fighting
to do this sumer
then ever before and it seems as if the rebel army was
getting weeker every day I also saw in the new paper that another draft is to be made in march
on our side and further I let you know the weather is very cold I also let you
know that I write for a very nice Picture of our company [unclear: when all our
Battles are on that]
[illeg.] Regiment was in It is a very large picture I will send it home
as soon as I get it the news is a little at present I must soon bring my few
lines to

geting along at home I am well hopeing you and all the rest are the same I give my Best respect to
