So it is Sunday and I have not much to do I thought proper to sit down and write a few lines to you to let you know that I am enjoying perfect good health hoping these lines may find you and all the rest in same state of health
Further I let you know that we have many orders but where we are to go to one do not know Our pay rolls have been made out and we expect to get our pay
before very long Cyrus if you answer this letter [illeg.] I hope you

as soon as you get it and let me know if John Polk is at home yet I also let you know that I
was only about 6 miles from Brother Daniel but I could not get of to see
him as we have to drill pretty hard since we are with the Regiment again and if you know where
Brother Jonathan is let me have his direction and I will write to him. we hear by flying talks
that this war shall be settled before very long I also write you to let me know what you and
the others are working

and I want to know if you and John go to see the girls Right
fast and where too we drill twice a day in the fore noon we drill our horses and in the
afternoon with the sabre and I can handle a sabre pretty good news is scarce so I must come to
a close hoping you will answer immediately
