Dear Cousin George
I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well for
the present time and I hope these few lines will find you in the same state of
health, further I would like you to write me who is got my
[unclear: chist] write me wheather you
received that letter which I sent to you further I let you know that I an
another soldier went for chestnuts one Day and we got about ten quarts in about
two hours, chestnuts is plenty down at the relayhouse they catch a good lot of
fish every night, they catcht something like Fifty eels
besides ten catfish one night, but the Rebbits are
not very plenty around here I only seen one rebbit
sinse I am down here the peapel around here in this neaberhood
are very kind one Gendelmen gave us a sheep for a
present

further I must tell you that I am going to see a nice
young Lady down at mount Washington her parents are very kind to me when any
other soldier comes there they chasem all of but me, further I must tell you that my brother was down
here to see me he went up in the train again I shall now bring my letter to a
close my best love and respect to you all write me soon again and [deleted: I]
