him to visit or bring his brother home.

Washington City, D.C.
Dear Sister,
I received yours of the 4th
to day. I am sory to tell you that I cant go to see William. we arived here last
night in Washington. and we are going to day to Maryland to drive the
invading rebels from the boaders of Pennsylvania. I expect we will
have a fight with them tomorrow. I am about two hundred and sixty miles from William now. and I
cant go to see him on any account that I can fix it. we where three days on the water coming here with our horses on board. I cant do anything for William whatever, so you will have to do the best that
you can to have him home, take what money I have home and do the best with it you can in having
him home & if it dont reach

borow money and I will Pay all expencess.
I have six month Pay coming to me now and I expect to get Pay in a few days or two weeks.
I am well and in good health hoping that this will find you the same.
