Wednesday June the 15th /64

Camp near James River

My Dear Mother,

I let you now that I am well at present and I hope that you ar the same that of good health and you must excuse me for not riteing sooner the ink wells and paper are so scarse that I cannot get any to rite to you. my tent parners give me this to rite to you and also I let you now that our Reghment Reenlisted all but a few that couldn't enlist. I couldn't reenlist so I drove a teame at the time when they was at home August the 12th, 1864 and I am in the Reghment agin and I let you now that our Reghment wasn't in no fight but it was verry near it. and we [unclear: hat werry ] [illeg.] our rechment came and we hat to bild brestworks from the Rapadan River to James River and that is about 70 miles and I got a letter from my brother William and he ses that he is in [unclear: ford ] Richard and you must excuse my lat riting so that is all for this time. rite soon
