Dear Wife

It is with pleser I set myself to an ser your kind letter wich I reseved on last Saturday and [illeg.] was glad to hear from you and I am wel at present and hope theas lines will find you all wel. I wod wrote sooner but we got marching orders. We ar just there whar Joseph is bered and philep and me is going down as soon as we kin get away to fix up his grave. Tell Pap that D. Nole said that another man come and got his son that lay with Joseph and if he comes he kin get Joseph. I seen John Mason and he sade that James [unclear: Fegan]

is just below whare wear and he is wel. I sean Marshall Donley, [unclear: Wilem Henry] and a lot more of the boys and there is a lot of them that we havnt sean yet. You sade you [illeg.] [illeg.] but if we [unclear: owe him] ennything I dont wont you to pa him for I think he has got [unclear: enough] you kin see little what he wod take in cash for his farm and let me nowe. You sade that you sent a bootel of numbersies I thot you dident think worthwile to send me enny thing for I rote evry weke and I dont think you did but if you think it is to much truble to rite evry weke I dont wont you to do it. You never as much as
