My Deear

I take My pen in hand to in forme you that I am well at present all excepten I have the cold putey Bad I hope thes Lines May find you the same I recivd your Leter the [unclear: 7th] and Now I take My pen in hand again to Let you now What fun We had We Left front of peters burg in the evening at thre a Clock and We Marched all Night till sum of the boys give out and lay down along the rode and sum throde ther things away We stoped about fore a clock in the Morning and old Johney Reb sheled us all the time tha cut the Linbs of all rond us We Drove them Back five Miles that Night We Marched about fiftenn Miles We Drove them Back to chapens bluff and We hold that place Now [unclear: tha] Made the shels and the [unclear: buets] [unclear: Whisel] a round Me I thought tha Would shourley hit me but We Did cut them all to peces We had a bout five or 6 Wagon Loads of them to bary thre Days after the fite tha sheled us fur fore or 6 days after the fite We Can see them every Day ther drzerting as fast as tha can [unclear: tho] com over by hundreds [unclear: tha] cum over Day and Night We ar With in 5 Miles of Rich mon Now We Look fur a fite every Day tha Made a Charge on the Rite wing and flanked our Men and capturde sum of our Men and fore canons But We gut them back again We Lade them on piles I Wasent in that fite I Was on the left of that Gust as We came oup [unclear: tho] [unclear: thad] [unclear: Dron] a Line of batel but When [unclear: tha] [unclear: sen] us [unclear: tho] Went Back again [unclear: tho] Dont Like to fite us We gut the prais the oficers say that We fote the Best of eny new regment that ever tha sen com on the fild to fite tha could hardley get them to stop firing at the Johneys the Was a hundred Run over to our side in one [unclear: skude] We take thre forts from them We had a hevey frost Last Night hear When you Rite Let Me no if you gut the money I sent you With the Likness when you Rite to Jake send him one of them Likness When I cant get my Meet cocked I eate it raw I Must close My Leter God be With you all at present
