Franklin County: Joseph Hills McClintock to Adjutant
General Thomas, February 7, 1863
Summary:
Joseph Hills McClintock describes the various illnesses of John Ault, rendering
him unable to return to service.
Adjutant Gen. Thomas, Washington DC
February 7th, 1863
London, Franklin Co. Pa.
I do hereby certify that Chaplain John Ault, 126th Pa. Vol., who was granted leave of absence for twenty days by Maj. Gen. Hooker for the benefit of his health on January 17th, 1863, is now, and has been for some time, under my care professionally; and that his physical condition is sick, at present, as to render a return to his station perilous to life.
His disease is rheumatism of the lower extremities; a dry, hacking cough; pain in the breast; occasional distressing spells of dy[illeg.]; and a general prostration of the vital powers, all resulting from the ex[illeg.] to camp.
Respectfully,
Jos. H. McClintock, M.D.
