Dear Col-
Your favor came to hand last evening, and I am glad that you have left your friend in Juniata free to confirm the selection of Middlesworth. He and Sharon will now be the Delegates, and I trust Union will be satisfied all round.
I sent a [unclear: ] house bill to Maj Sharon recently. Our people are petitioning pretty extensively for it, and it will be well to let it pass.
I notice bills reported in both branches for the publication of the laws. There is really merit in the suggestion, and the law cannot be enacted too soon, but if it is done, I hope the Whigs will see that the law does not throw the [deleted: ] patronage into the laps of the Locofoco papers. If not published in two papers in each county, it should be made to require the papers in each county having the largest circulation.
I do not now know that I shall be down before the Whig Convention. Mrs McC will then be along, and we will put up with you.
yours
