Hon

Dear Sir
I have been so much engaged since receiving your's that I could not till now find time to answer. I very well remember meeting with you in Harrisburg, but supposed you had entirely forgotten me.
I have been twice around
[page 2]
the County, once to secure the nomination of
one of my partners, for this office of State Senator. And once to secure the
right person to fill a vacancy that occurred in our Assembly Ticket.
In both instances I was successful.
Our county the Birthplace of Buchanan is truly the battle-ground
[page 3]
we
will have to fight for every inch of ground we get.
I Love the American Party and especially the Democratic portion of it. I joined the order from the Democracy. We have gained between 2 and 5 hundred of that kind of votes and lost about 200 Catholic & Foreign votes.
I will be in Harrisburg the last of this or the first of next week.
Truly Your Friend
A. N. Rankin
