Franklin County: Thaddeus Stevens to Edward McPherson, June 20, 1858

Summary:
Thaddeus Stevens offers advice to Edward McPherson on his campaign, including the liberal use of money.

June 20 1858

Dear Sir

I have taken a long time as in truth I am so pressed as not to know what to do, or when I can pay-- I do not doubt that you are right although I fully believe myself out of this [unclear: responsibility].

You are right in letting your friends have their way -- You will have a hard road to travel-- You must [illeg.] every [illeg.] well and spend your money freely or you have no chance with your desperate appointment--

Thaddeus Stevens

E. McPherson
